Securing the supply chain across three continents

AB Vista's team in Rotterdam

Supply chain challenges prompted by Brexit were so successfully navigated by our team in Rotterdam, that alongside existing customer logistics operations they secured a new global partnership and have developed into a Centre of Excellence for our parent company, AB Agri.

The team has always been committed to ensuring customers in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) get the products they need, when they need them.

They also support our sister business Premier Nutrition and other ABF companies with their distribution needs across complex supply chains.

Since Brexit came into effect, the team needed to adapt its ways of working to ensure seamless continuous support for customers. Its success has resulted in a new partnership with ABF Ingredients business, PGP International – a US based manufacturer of food ingredients including rice-based flours and extruded grains and proteins.

Regional Head of Supply Chain at AB Vista, Aderonke Awe, explains: “Despite our preparations, Brexit brought on many challenges to our supply chains, so we had to quickly adapt to new systems and processes.

“To ensure supply continuity and to create growth, we remained focused on our strong global strategy, which allowed us to continue delivering to our customers while also supporting other business units.”

Aderonke adds: “Prior to approaching AB Vista to establish a European fulfilment capability, PGP would ship its products to order from California, which caused long delays. PGP needed to be closer to its customers in Europe both in terms of communication and product.”

By processing, fulfilling, and delivering PGP’s orders across Europe from its existing distribution centre in Rotterdam, the AB Vista team can offer PGP customers a significantly more efficient service.

Additionally, with its new European presence, PGP is better placed to deliver stock on demand and respond to local requirements. Already the new partnership has resulted in a higher uptake of products across the region for customers looking to formulate plant-based protein into their product ranges.

Aderonke says: “AB Vista Europe saw this partnership as an opportunity for our teams to develop new skills and grow a centre of excellence in logistics. We have since ensured a flexible and efficient supply continuity for PGP.”
