Insights from EuroTier 2018: Analysing the substrate to optimise feed formulation

Published Wednesday, 19th December 2018

This year’s EuroTier exhibition was an exciting opportunity to explore the industry trends and topics that are likely to influence the sector for the year ahead.

One topic discussed was the importance of understanding the substrate in the diet in order to optimise your chosen enzyme application strategy.

Talking at EuroTier, William Greenwood, Technical Services Manager for EMEA, discussed how AB Vista works with customers to identify the substrate levels in their raw materials in feed. “For example, it is important to understand the phytate phosphorous level in the diet for phytase enzyme application, and the fibre components, for NSP enzyme application. This understanding can help producers apply their chosen enzyme strategy with confidence.”

AB Vista’s phytate reference guide provides an overview of the phytate phosphorous levels in raw materials and feed and is available to download here.

Calculate the percentage of dietary fibre in your feed

Our calculator is designed for nutritionists and uses averages of global raw materials to calculate the dietary fibre content (plus other more in-depth fibre parameters) of finished animal feed. These parameters are available within AB Vista’s Dietary Fibre analysis service (part of our NIR service).
