AB Vista to attend APSA 2025
Published Wednesday, 12th November 2025We’re pleased to be attending the Australasian Pig Science Association (APSA) Conference 2025, 17-19 November, in Melbourne, Australia. As a silver sponsor of this year’s event, our activities focus on ways in which the swine industry can advance and overcome the challenges facing pork producers in the region.
Understanding the impact of gut health on swine performance is key to developing more informed feed strategies. At APSA 2025, Teemu Rinttilä, Head of Research Services at Alimetrics, will deliver a talk on how more realistic intestinal models can reveal the true mode of action of feed additives designed to support gut health.
“I am looking forward to present how our ex vivo mucus layer model was used to test AB Vista’s yeast product’s ability to reduce E. coli and Salmonella attachment to pig ileal mucosa, at APSA 2025,” said Rinttilä. “At Alimetrics, we’ve long focused on developing research models that mimic gut conditions ex vivo – outside the animal – combining the reliability of in vivo studies with the precision of in vitro trials.”
The talk is being held at the RACV City club on Tuesday 18 November at 12:10 PM (AEDT) as part of session 5 on Enhancing sow/piglet nutrition & gut health, sponsored by AB Vista.
AB Vista Global Technical Manager Gustavo Cordero and Alejandro Criado, Commercial Director, will be representing AB Vista at the conference, as well as hosting a customer seminar later in the week alongside Professor Robert van Barneveld, Group CEO & Managing Director at SunPork Grou, and Dr. Charles Rikard-Bell, Executive Officer at Australia Pork Research Institute.
Building on the conference’s key discussions, the event will explore fibre tools that can shape gut health and performance, the evolving perception of dietary fibre, the stimbiotic concept, and provide guidance on practical applications in pig nutrition. Another area of focus will be the role of biomarkers in swine gut health, and how to select the most relevant ones. Dr. Rinttilä will share what makes a biomarker optimal, highlighting functional biomarkers for microbial fermentation and monitoring intestinal inflammation.
We look forward to meeting everyone at APSA and sharing ideas on how we can work together to enhance sow gut health.

Online Feed Fibre Calculator
Calculate the percentage of dietary fibre in your feed
Our calculator is designed for nutritionists and uses averages of global raw materials to calculate the dietary fibre content (plus other more in-depth fibre parameters) of finished animal feed. These parameters are available within AB Vista’s Dietary Fibre analysis service (part of our NIR service).
