Yeast from AB Vista

Over recent years, a number of value-added yeast products have been introduced to the animal feed market having only been used previously in the baking, brewing and fermentation industries.

Yeasts are unicellular fungi including both obligate aerobes, which require oxygen to grow, and facultative anaerobes, which can grow in both the presence and absence of oxygen.

The total annual yeast market is estimated to be in excess of 2 million tons being produced in over 200 industrial yeast production plants all over the world.

The feed yeast market can be divided into six major segments; live yeast, dead yeast, yeast cell wall products, yeast contents, hydrolysed whole yeast, and mineral-enriched yeasts. While waste yeast has been used in the feed industry for several years, it has only been sold on the basis of its nutrient content. AB Vista is working together with sister company, AB Mauri (see link), to produce value-added yeast products that are sold on their ability to improve animal performance beyond their nutrient value.

Finding a synergy between ourselves and AB Mauri has opened another door to the market.  The introduction of Vistacell to the market will enable us to offer even more solutions to our customers across Europe.
